My Teaching Philosophy
It is important to remember how valuable education is for our children and that every child should have the opportunity to attend schools that provide quality education. As a teacher, I want to improve inclusiveness by creating an environment where students can express who they are and have the freedom to express and honor their different backgrounds. I want to make sure that every student feels welcome in the classroom and that it is a place where they can grow and make mistakes without the fear of harsh discipline and punishment. I want to ensure that every child receives an equal opportunity to learn as much as they can in my classroom. I believe that raising and fortifying future generations begins in the classroom.

By pursuing a career in teaching, I am advocating for the creation of optimal environments, the improvement of inclusiveness and the preparation of the contributors of tomorrow. I have the opportunity to make a difference in my community and promote the change I would like to see in our public school systems. For me, teaching is a way to provide educational opportunities for all children because I know this will create successful communities, successful states, and even a successful country.

I am motivated to teach because I enjoy working with children from all different cultures and backgrounds. Teaching is experiencing firsthand how children learn, process information, and think differently and uniquely about the world and I am excited to be a part of the process. I also love the energy and the eagerness of children while learning and trying new things. As teachers, we have the opportunity to instill a love of learning in each child. My desire is to give back to society by serving and teaching our children and especially preparing them for their futures.

I plan to be an effective teacher by encouraging my students to develop deep learning. I can do that by focusing on their individual needs and create a safe classroom environment where they can feel motivated to participate and cooperate. I will engage and interact positively with my class so they feel a connectedness with me as their teacher. I plan to be adaptable and responsible. While teaching, it will be important that I collaborate with other educators, school leaders, parents, and the community to ensure the best education for our children.

As a teacher, I will exercise cultural pluralism, which is accepting and embracing cultural diversity and making it my focus in the classroom. This includes not treating students uniformly, but by embracing their differences. Multicultural education helps all students look positively at all people and expand their interracial social circles. As I implement a diversified curriculum, it will connect students’ home experiences with school experiences, incorporate a range and variety of different teaching strategies to help all students and create a curriculum that the students can use and apply to their activities.

As a teacher, I can modify my classroom instruction to include the different learning styles of all students and understand that some learning styles develop from culture. This can help my students also recognize that their peers may learn differently than they do, that no learning style is ‘better or worse’ and they should not judge their peers for the differences between each other. This also helps them develop different learning skills and recognize that they can learn from each other. As a teacher, I can also use diversified material in teaching through textbooks and other learning material. Different source material in the classroom helps encourage multicultural perspectives and relationships among the students. It also helps the students learn about and appreciate different races and cultures as well as enhance classroom education for minority students.

I believe that technology is an effective and meaningful way to teach students. I plan to use and continue to develop my skills in educational technology. I want to make learning accessible for all my students and I plan to do this through technology that can be used in the classroom and remotely. I want to stay connected with my students. Technology allows students to connect with their teacher and peers even if they cannot be together in person. I want to promote learning through new environments.
